With the goal of enhancing care coordination and improving patient care, Brown Surgical Associates is one of the six foundations under Brown Physicians Inc. (BPI) that is part of a merger with Brown Health Medical Group.
Brown Health announced Tuesday that the two parties will move forward with a merger in an effort to improve care coordination, expand access, and better serve patients across the state. The merger is expected to be finalized and effective on October 1, 2025 and will result in BPI’s more than 500 physicians joining Brown Health Medical Group’s 1,000-plus providers. The merged organization of more than 1,500 providers will deliver high-quality, innovative care to patients in Rhode Island and the region as one unified entity.
BPI is a multi-specialty practice group founded and led by faculty affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. In addition to Brown Surgical Associates, BPI’s other five foundations—Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Medicine, Neurology, and Urology—will join Brown Health Medical Group, the physician-led and governed multi-specialty medical group that is part of the Brown University Health system.
