- Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy
- Indicated for patients diagnosed with esophageal motility disorders, a per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) uses a flexible endoscope, inserted through the mouth, to make a small incision on the inner portion of the esophagus and perform a myotomy. This myotomy cuts muscle fibers relieving obstruction and improving swallowing function in patients with esophageal dysmotility.
